Pirate Gold says spectral work at its Clipper Brook target has outlined alunite and pyrophyllite alteration over more than 3 km of outcrop/sub-crop, sitting inside a broader >10 km electromagnetic resistivity low. The target is 12 km east of the Moby Dick copper-gold discovery, where prior drilling returned 0.54% Cu Eq over 180.8 m, including 1.48% Cu Eq over 49.4 m. The company argues the alunite signature points to limited erosion and a better-preserved hydrothermal system, which in turn raises the odds that Clipper Brook could represent a second district-scale target within the Crippleback Intrusive Suite. CEO Denis Laviolette discussed the target on Mining Stock Daily, and the company now has drill permits in hand. For precious-metals traders, this is more of a junior exploration update than a direct market driver, but it does add to the longer-dated optionality around gold-copper discovery potential. The near-term catalyst is drilling; if initial holes reproduce Moby Dick-style grades and widths, the story could re-rate, but until then the impact on bullion prices is negligible.
